Going Through the Motions

On those few days we are apart,
There’s a hole inside my heart,
On auto-pilot all day long,
Feel all incomplete and wrong,
Without you, I get the notion,
I’m just going through the motions.

Get up without our morning hugs,
At work the sadness through me floods,
That I won’t be coming home to you,
Just for that reason feel quite blue,
No object today for my devotion,
I’m just going through the motions.

Take taxi back to empty home,
Without you there, feel so alone,
Wine and dinner hold no pleasure,
When you’re there, that’s time I treasure,
Without you, I just feel lonesome,
Like I’m just going through the motions.

Bedtime is bleak without our snuggles,
Love and laughter, lots of cuddles,
For I’m your girl and you’re my boy,
A day without you holds no joy,
For without you, I get the notion,
That I’m just going through the motions…
