(Based on ‘Who am I?’ from Les Miserables)
Who am I?
I’m a carergiver who writes poetry,
Been caring from the age of 28 to 33,
And no that wasn’t in the plan,
I married a much older man…
Who am I?
A primary carer for my mum-in-law,
A role, which I confess, I find a chore…
And so to maintain my dignity,
I channel rage through poetry…
Who am I?
A newly-wed quite young woman,
Lucky in this life to have found “the one”,
That’s why I help my husband care,
Attempt the burden now to share…
Who am I?
A linguist at one time academically,
In foreign languages got my degree,
Spent ten years of my life overseas,
Before my run-in with Alzheimers disease…
Who am I?
A department head professionally,
Hard to juggle work life with family,
I love my job I must confess,
But combined with caring – lots of stress….
Who am I?
A person with a lot of frustration pent,
A poet who uses verses here to vent,
Am I a decent person? No!
Read my poems – then you’ll know,
I’m just a girl who wants to share,
With other carergivers out theeeeeeere…

I’m sick to the back teeth of you!!!

Hi! Really lovely blog idea and although I am sorry to hear your plight, it comforts me somewhat, as I am in the same situation! I have also been caring for my demented mother-in-law for three years…. Are you in London? Maybe we could collaborate over a coffee or start up an anonymous ‘caring for your demented MIL’ support group ;p
Thanks for dropping in, so I am returning the visit. cute idea. I too have taken car of my MIL, my FIL and my own mother: all with Alzheimer’s, and now my husband. Difficult journey for all. I too am the yongest of three girls in our parents’ home. Whatever I am learning I was hoping that with the first 3 I thought I had learned. Nevertheless I don’t believe God is dead, only that i have more to learn and endure. it is through faith that I can endure. Take care of yourself, have a great trip with hubby. If I were in London I would have that cup of coffee with your friend, and we could compare notes. My blog will be a book within the year througth Amazon, first on Kindel, then in paperback. Title: Living, Loving and Caring with Alzheimer’s 24/7.
